A slam shut-off valve is installed immediately after the filter and before the regulator. Under normal conditions, it remains open. However, if the regulator's outlet pressure exceeds the permissible limit, the slam shut-off valve detects this through the impulse line and immediately shuts off the downstream flow. When the regulator requires maintenance, the slam shut-off valve must be manually reopened. Once the flow resumes, the valve will remain open as long as the regulator's outlet pressure stays within acceptable limits.
